You know who you are, and I have something to say to you.

Over the past 20 years, “feeds” have evolved to capture human attention at any cost, and you have been forgotten by the people who make them.

I know, because for a long time, I helped build those feeds, and got to know those people.

The truth is, most of my friends at Meta, YouTube, and TikTok simply don’t believe you exist anymore.

They think everyone has lost their ability to focus. To decide. To choose. To translate value into virtue so consistently that it becomes habit.

They think everyone has lost their ability to enjoy the work. To love to learn. To grow. To sculpt who we are, what we do, and who we become.

They think that all that’s left for us is to react. To rubberneck. To consume. Not to chew—just swallow. They are absolutely convinced that the steak has lost to the candy bar.

Fuck that.

Fuck everything about that. Fuck letting those ideals underpin the modern architecture of attention. Fuck that dystopian, overbearing, small, authoritarian bullshit.

It isn’t true, and it never was.

I know you still exist.

And for the last 7 years, we have been building the modern Internet for you.
